Becky's story

During the UK lockdown, Becky has got back on a bike after an incredible 24 years - well done Becky! Here's what she has to say:

"I had planned to buy myself a bike sometime in the next year or two so that I could join in with family bike rides. Before lockdown, my son could ride his bike but he wasn't confident so I wasn't in any hurry to try and join him! 

Then lockdown happened and suddenly he was going on daily bike rides with my husband and whizzing around without a care in the world. They hassled me to come with them so I bought a second hand bike and gave it a try. I hadn't been on a bike for 24 years so I was very nervous but I was soon cycling alongside them. 

I love the sense of freedom I get from riding a bike and it's lovely to see so many other families out and about too. It's also reassuring to see more cycle routes appearing in my area!"
