Ferry timetable and services in Southampton
Southampton acts as a key link to the Isle of Wight with regular ferry services to the island.
There is also a regular service across Southampton Water to Hythe. The two ferry operators and the services they provide are shown below.
Please visit the ferry operators’ websites via the links below for specific timetable information:
- Red Funnel operates two services to the Isle of Wight. The Red Jet is a high speed service which carries foot passengers between Town Quay and West Cowes. Crossing time is approximately 25 minutes. If you're travelling with a vehicle or a bicycle then you can use the Vehicle Ferry service (also available to foot passengers) between Town Quay and East Cowes. Crossing time is approximately 55-60 minutes.
- The Hythe Ferry travels between Town Quay and Hythe Pier carrying foot passengers and cyclists. Crossing time is approximately 10-15 minutes. It's a great alternative to the lengthy land based route around Southampton Water and offers great views of the cruise liners docked in port. There is also a train along Hythe Pier, although you can walk if you'd prefer.
