Scoot to reduce air pollution

Scoot to reduce air pollution

Air pollution has been linked to cancer, asthma, stroke and heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and dementia and is the cause of 40,000 premature deaths in the UK each year. The journey to school can have an impact on your pupils’ health and the environment in terms of carbon emissions.

You can help the environment by encouraging families to scoot all or part of their journey to school using the online journey planner to compare trips and show Co2 emissions generated by the car, along with calories burnt.

For schools that want to monitor air quality we have created a toolkit that includes everything needed to run a successful air quality project. It can be used as a resource by teachers and educators to help younger children increase their understanding and awareness of air quality issues in a fun and engaging way.
