Schools across Hampshire and Southampton receive prizes for air quality campaigns

This year the Hampshire County Council Travel Planning team invited selected schools in areas of Southampton and Hampshire to learn more about  the links between road vehicles and air pollution.  Local authority Environmental Health Departments donated diffusion tubes that teams of pupils used to compare the air quality in different locations around their schools and over different months.

The teams were then challenged to develop clean air campaign plans that would promote active travel and no idling of engines to reduce air pollution, as well as improving health and fitness. Prizes were awarded to the teams that developed the best plans which were kindly donated by Red Spider Climbing, University of Southampton, Farnborough Airport and Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

Well done to pupils from Crofton Anne Dale Junior School, Bursledon Junior School, Thornden School, The Crescent Primary School, Sholing Junior School, Bosmere Junior School and Trosnant Junior School.
