Millbrook Roundabout Reconstruction Update
Overnight weekday closures Monday 25 March until Thursday 4 April
The Millbrook Roundabout Reconstruction works are moving rapidly towards the completion date of 7 April 2019. As part of the final fix, the roundabout will be closed overnight during the next two weeks commencing Monday 25 March.
Monday 25 March from 7pm until 5am – Overnight closure of westbound off-slip
This will still allow port traffic to use First Avenue and Dock Gate 20. Traffic coming out of the city will need to go down to Redbridge Roundabout to access Millbrook Roundabout from the west.
Pedestrian and cyclist access
Pedestrians and cyclists wanting to cross to the north side of the roundabout will be diverted via the subways on Redbridge Road and Millbrook Road West.
Tuesday 26 March from 7pm until 5am – Overnight closure of westbound on-slip
This will mainly affect First Avenue and Second Avenue. To maintain access to Redbridge Road, the one-way section of Second Avenue will allow traffic to flow in two directions under traffic light control.
Pedestrian and cyclist access
This will be largely unaffected from the current phase 4 access.
Wednesday 27 March and Thursday 28 March – Overnight full roundabout closure
This will allow for the repainting of the roundabout lining and the completion of any final fixes ahead of reopening the roundabout. Access around the roundabout will use the diversion routes from each of the four phases to maintain access. Access to the port will be via Dock Gate 20. Access into Millbrook Estate will be via Parkside Avenue and Green Park Road. First Avenue will temporarily return to two-way with access via Second Avenue. Access into First Avenue and City Depot will be via Allington Road and Second Avenue. Part of Third Avenue and Auckland Road will also be temporarily two-way to maintain access. Access to Third Avenue will be at the eastern entrance at the junction with Regents Park Road.
