Cycle Diversion on Third Avenue
Resurfacing work is now taking place on Third Avenue, the service road that runs parallel to Millbrook Road West. The work is running from the junction with Regents Park Road to First Avenue. The project started on Monday 25 June and involves five weeks of daytime works and five weeks of overnight work.
The daytime work being undertaken requires the whole road to be reduced to one way, eastbound. Access will be maintained from the Millbrook Roundabout/First Avenue end, with all traffic exiting at the Regents Park Road junction. The daytime work in area 1 should be complete within the first two weeks and then this section can return to two way traffic, with area 2 remaining one way for the duration.
Overnight work (8pm until 6am, Monday-Friday) will run for three weeks in area 1, before moving to area 2 for up to two weeks. Area 2 is signed as closed at either end.
What does this mean for cyclists and pedestrians?
If you usually cycle in the affected area, please note that throughout the one way daytime closures, westbound cyclists will be diverted to the north side of Millbrook Road West. During the night time closures, all cyclists will be diverted to the north side of Millbrook Road West.
Pedestrian access will always be maintained via the footways.
