Clean Air Day

17 June 2021 is Clean Air Day and your chance to raise awareness about air pollution and make the air that we breathe cleaner and healthier!

In the UK, the transport sector is the biggest source of greenhouse gases that are contributing to the global climate emergency. The toxic air pollution produced by road traffic damages our health and is responsible for 36,000 deaths in the UK each year. Wouldn’t it be great if streets were more about people and less about cars? Less traffic means cleaner air and reduced carbon emissions. Quiet streets are safer with more room for people to enjoy the outdoors.

Clean Air Day for Schools

People-Friendly Streets, Primary and Secondary Pupil Competition

This year, with support from Active Nation, we are offering KS2 and KS3 pupils the chance to win tickets for fun, outdoor activities such as climbing and donutting. We are inviting pupils to develop campaign materials to encourage people to leave their cars at home whenever possible and make streets more people-friendly.

Prizes for the Schools too!

Organise, and publicise to your parent community, a Clean Air Day exhibition of the People-Friendly Streets Competition entries online, in a newsletter or in school to be entered into a draw to win a PlantLock bikestore!

You should have received your resources by now and successfully launched the competition in your schools. (If not, find presentations and information leaflets to download at the foot of this page).

Submit your competition entries here before the closing date of 25 June 2021:

Pupils share your competition entry here for a chance to win fun outdoor activity vouchers!

Schools submit details of your competition exhibition here for your chance to win a PlantLock!

Good luck!
